Our Empowering programme provides men and women with the opportunity to take control of their own lives. By providing them with the training, tools and encouragement they need, they become independent and able to provide for themselves and their families.
At our Smile Centre in Sri Lanka, women from the slums, who live in shacks made out of a combination of bricks, plastic sheeting, corrugated steel and palm matting, have been given the opportunity of regularly attending a 12-week tailoring course, which has resulted in them gaining a skill and becoming self-sufficient. The women have now set themselves up in business and are selling their wares at the local market. It might be a relatively small project in our eyes, but it has made a huge difference in their lives. One of the women, Arosha, says, “This class has changed my life!”
If you would like to give someone the opportunity to escape the cycle of poverty, someone like Arosha, then please donate to our Empowering Programme and change lives for the better. Thank you.
